Voices of Freedom: Romania at the LBF 2024

The Female Gaze: Women and Writing

Romania's 14th participation in the London Book Fair (LBF) started with an event dedicated to women's writing and focused on British and Romanian authors. Our distinguished guests were Hannah Dawson, specialist in the history of ideas and professor at King's College London, editor of The Penguin Book of Feminist Writing, and Suzannah Lipscomb, historian, writer, TV personality, chair of judges for the inaugural Women's Prize for Non -fiction (2024). They were joined by the poet and editor Alina Purcaru, along with Paula Erizanu, of the three-volume anthology A Century of Romanian Poetry Written by Women. We also met Elena Vlădăreanu, writer and coordinator of the "Sofia Nădejde" Prize, awarded to contemporary Romanian writers. The evening was hosted by the writer, editor and cultural journalist Paula Erizanu.
