About the event
The Romanian Cultural Institute in London is delighted to support Romanian cinematographers at Sheffield DocFest 2024. This is the most important documentary festival held in the UK, which attracts strong international participation.
The festival unfolds from 12-17 June in Sheffield and revolves around film screenings and special events, including talks, interactive and virtual reality exhibitions, live podcast events and discussions.
Romania will be represented by the short documentary Blue, written and directed by Ana Vijdea (Ro) and produced by Elena Martin (Ro). The production has been selected to participate in the international competition and will have its world premiere at the Sheffield Festival on June 13. Ana Vijdea's film offers an insight into the relationship between a mother and her two children. Rodica (40) and her children, Maria (14) and Patrick (18), are Romanian expats living in Belgium. Their lives focus on finding each other's coordinates in order to live a balanced family life. Through a gentle, minimalist approach, the camera is close to the protagonists, sometimes alone, sometimes together, and focuses on their attempts to communicate with each other, on their silences, on the weight of their bodies. Blue is a film about love, fear, anxiety and the emotions that arise at their intersection.
The film will be shown twice:
Thu, Jun 13th, 2:30 PM at Curzon - Screen 2
Sat, Jun 15th, 1:15 PM at Showroom - Screen 1
